Join us  for dinner and a book discussion of  

"Savage Feast - Three Generations, Two Continents, and a Dinner Table" by Boris Fishman

Nearly 100,000 people of Ukrainian descent live in the Chicago area, many with their own proud generational and culinary stories.  This fall, the Dames Who Read will explore Ukrainian history and family dynamics as well as memories of the table by reading Savage Feast by Boris Fishman.

Our meeting will begin with a guided tour at the Ukrainian National Museum of Chicago, where we will learn about the local immigrant story and see artifacts from their collection.  A short walk away, TRYZUB restaurant will present dishes, including some mentioned in the book, that help to further tell the historical story.  Afterward, save room and time for a quick visit to a grocery store where we will find examples of all of the mentioned ingredients as well as some amazing desserts!

PLEASE NOTE:  This meeting is on a Thursday and begins early.  If you cannot attend the museum tour at 5:30, please kindly let Judith know that you will be meeting us at the restaurant at 6:30 (text Judith at 312-203-0532).

Street parking or public transportation.  Event includes museum admittance, docent tour, and multi-course dinner.  The restaurant offers a full bar including a wide range of Ukrainian juices, beers, and wines - beverages will be charged to attendees separately.
