NATIONAL DISH
AROUND THE WORLD in SEARCH OF FOOD, HISTORY, and the MEANING OF HOME
Our winter book has traditionally been one that takes a bit of time to read and absorb. This one is no exception. You will learn so much about how now-familiar foods have come to be identified with a specific place when in fact they may have started somewhere else and often traveled around the globe before settling in their accepted "place". It's a great read!
Each of the six chapters deals with a different dish and its history. There is no plot to follow, so read them in any order. And, then think of something you could contribute to our buffet of small bites when we meet in person.
Because - DRUM ROLL - we are going to celebrate this, our 50th book! There will be a chance to get to know each other better, talk books and food history - and savor friendship as well as iconic dishes.
Plan to mention a favorite book of your own, a favorite memory from Dames Who Read meetings.
Look for an invitation to the in-person event, “A FESTIVAL OF FAVORITES” which will be on March 5 at Katherine-Anne Confections at their new location at 3653 W Irving Park Road.
(You will need to register for that one separately.)
